Class B: Foreigners in China applying for a 1-year employment permit and residency visa

Before preparing the materials, please check the following 2 points:

Point 1: Does the company already have a company account that has been approved by the new online work permit system? If so, please provide the appropriate user name and password. If not, please click to download the registration guide, follow the instructions to open and activate the company account.

Point 2: There are three types of work permits, Class A, Class B and Class C, the following is the Class B work visa materials list that is suitable for most foreigners. You can also click on the link below and check the work permit criteria to determine what kind of work permit that the foreigner is qualified for, if it is Class A or Class C, please contact your counselor to obtain a different materials list.

The application requirements list is as follows:

Information to be prepared by the employee:

1.       Original passport (Passport is valid for more than 6 months, visa is valid for more than 1 month)

2.       Personal experience information (form is attached, please send it to us via email after completing it)

3.       Original bachelor's degree or higher education degree certificate (please make sure this is a degree certificate, not a transcript)

4.       If the above degree certificate is not issued in the country, authentication is required, you need to provide additional authentication documents.

5.       Original Lack of Criminal Record Certificate (within 6 months of issuance, this certificate needs to be authenticated)

6.       Original document proof of more than two years of relevant work experience (this proof needs to be provided by a domestic or foreign company where the foreigner originally worked at, the position needs to be consistent with the current company, the attachment is a sample)

7.       Original Chinese Proficiency Test certificate (HSK Certificate) (not necessary if the foreigner does not already have it)

8.       Original medical examination report (valid for 6 months)

9.       A single electronic photo (please send by email)

The information that the company needs to provide is as follows:

1. Original and copy of the company's three combined certificates for company business license
2. Original contract + one copy (attachment includes the must-have requirements of the  foreigner’s labor contract, after amending according to the requirements, please ensure that 6 elements are clearly written on the contract: "Contract Deadline", "Work Position", "Work Place: Shanghai", "Work Duties", "Years Worked in China" and "Wages" before submitting, if any of the above 6 elements is missing, please be sure to add them before submitting to the counselor, otherwise it is a waste of time.)

For all of the above materials, if there are uncertainties (for example: uncertainty in whether the academic qualifications or lack of criminal record certificate could be used), please send us an email first for review in order to save time.

In the following steps (Steps I, II, III, IV), you need to guarantee the foreigner's stay in China and that the visa is still within the validity period, do not overstay. You can see that the following steps (Steps I, II, III, IV) take at least 20 working days (4 weeks), and if the foreigner's visa has less than 30 days remaining, please contact your counselor to see if we can help with a 1-month extension. If not, the foreigner will have to leave the country (for example, to Hong Kong) to extend the visa for a longer period of time. This will be another charge of 1000 yuan/person, excluding government fees.

Note 1. If a foreigner is hired as a foreign language teacher, the foreigner needs to be from a native English-speaking country, and if the foreigner has a bachelor's degree or above in any type of language/education major or has a TEFL/TESO certificate, there is no need to provide proof of 2 years of work experience described above. However, TEFL/ TESO certificates (cannot be online courses, more than 120 hours are required) will need to be authenticated.

The service process is as follows:

Step I: Please submit all the materials to the Tianchen business office in accordance with the above list.

You can choose to send the materials by courier or in person, and you cannot proceed to the next step until we have received all the materials listed above.

Step II: Prepare your visa application (5 business days)

This includes material collation, translation, online application and so on.

This step is critical because we need to ensure that the foreigners' applications meet government requirements in order to ensure the success rate for foreigners.

Step III: Contact the company for seal

After the preparation for the visa application is complete, there will be documents that need the company’s seal and the foreigner’s signature. In order to save time, please ensure that the company will quickly cooperate to stamp the seal.

Step V: Foreigner work permit application (15-20 working days)

Note: During the course of the application, please guarantee the foreigner's stay in China and that the visa is still within the validity period, do not overstay.

During this step, the government will ask to check the original passport during 5-10 working days, please make sure that the passport can be given to us during this period, if we do not receive the passport, it will delay the date of issuance on the employment certificate.

Step V:  1-year work residency visa application for foreigners (7 working days)

In this step, please provide us with the following materials:

1. Original passport

2. Two 2-inch color photos (white background 3.5cm*4.8cm)

3. Shanghai Temporary Residency Registration form (required to apply at the police station in the area of residence within 24 hours of entry)

Note: The government will retain the original passport of the foreigner for 7 working days, and we will help apply for a travel document that allows the foreigner to travel within China, but not internationally.

Note 1: If the foreigner used to be a Chinese citizen, please make sure that the previous Chinese account has been cancelled, otherwise the work visa cannot be approved.

NOTE 2: If the foreigner's current visa is a student visa, you will need to provide a graduation certificate or a school departure certificate in order to prove the completion of studies.
